Who are we?
The name of the organization is the Pioneer Heritage Company, a division of Heritage Gateways. (Hereinafter referred to as “PHC”)
What do I have to do to join?
- Pay annual membership dues
$25 for individuals
$30 for families
- Choose a mentor from the existing membership
Official Privileges of members are:
- To vote on all matters submitted to the membership for a vote
- The right to hold elective office in PHC
- To receive the PHC official newsletter
- To participate in any projects and other activities of PHC
Other benefits of membership:
- Learn about the Mormon pioneers on a very personal level
- Learn pioneer skills and activities – many of these translate to preparedness skills today
- Enjoy socializing with others that share your interest in history
- Teach your children to have a love for their heritage
- Opportunity for adults and children to grow as they teach others about the pioneers and the pioneer skills
Role of the mentor
- Help you learn about living history and prepare for public events.
- Be your first resource for questions
- Help you in choosing clothing and equipment
What do we do at our Monthly Meetings?
- Go over the calendar of upcoming events
- Show & Tell– sharing new things we have acquired or information we have discovered.
- Show & Ask – come with questions about items you want to buy or have bought. Our group is an extensive knowledge base on the pioneer era.
- Historical Music – learn pioneer era folk songs and period LDS hymns
- Historical Presentations – presentations may be on any topic as it relates to living history
What do we do at a public event?
- Set up exhibits that represent varying aspects of pioneer life
- Demonstrate pioneer activities
- Use Living History techniques to teach the public about the pioneers
- Guide hands on experiences for our guests
- Enjoy spending time with others that share our love of the pioneers
